Carpet vs Laminated Flooring

If your still deciding on whether to install carpet or laminated flooring then this is the blog for you.

Carpet looks and feels amazing when new (although I think the new carpet smell is not so appealing).  To be honest anything that is new including laminated flooring looks amazing.  Its really boils down to practicality.  What is important to you? What matches your style? What suits your family and lifestyle?

Lets face it, the only thing that doesn't out date in style and presentation is nature and how much closer to that can you get than a wooden floor or a laminate that has a wooden finish.

Gone are the days way back when, where laminate was cheap, plastic and down right nasty. There was nothing quality about it, and it was plastered all over our furniture, walls and other strange places. It was often secured with steel pins or thick white glue and once it decided to lift there was no way to stop it. But this was also a time when we were practical people, we kept everything until it couldn't be fixed anymore and interior decorating was a luxury only the wealthy indulged in. Now days in our disposable world where fashion and the style of our homes is a representation of our personalities, we seek quality and beauty without the huge price tag.
Lets face it... that beautiful cream carpet you chose when you first built the house wasn't really the one you wanted but was closest to it and within your budget. It would have lasted for years except (within five years) the family grew and three boys, one dog and two cats later its cream colour is now patchy from wine and god knows what else, despite your diligence in strategically placing rugs throughout the house. The darker lounge suit that you've recently purchased (the colour and fabric all about longevity within the family home) now looks a total contrast in relation to your carpet and other mismatching furnishings. The neighbors they had the right idea, they had laminate installed in their living areas. When their dishwasher leaked you were sure they would have to replace the entire kitchen but a few planks later and walah all like new. The light colour of the laminate just brightens their home and despite their young family and indoor pets, every time you've gone there for coffee, everything looks so fresh, co ordinated and trendy.

So you want a bit of warmth between your toes, a floor rug is a great way to have the best of both worlds. Plus it is so much more affordable to replace when it becomes worn or outdated. Also think of the cleaning and dust that gets trapped in a carpet. Laminate is less likely to harbour dust and any other creepy crawlies that may be present in a carpet that has household pets. Not only visually pleasing, cleaning up spills of food and liquid is easier with a laminate floor.

So what about sound? Well yes floorboards can cause footsteps to travel with the acoustics created in the room however with today's laminate flooring the team from Nufloors Auckland Laminate layers can install an acoustic underlay ensuring the reduction of noise travel.

Many customers look at the cost of solid wood and question its viability, however laminate is more affordable and if cared for may last decades. The lifespan of your carpet can vary and some may need to be replaced sooner which increases the financial cost over time.

There are so many different styles and patterns available in laminates and you will find these at reasonable prices. Please check out our flooring shop - laminates or give us a call on .
